Based upon the success of "Kent Uni Is...", the winning entry into a university film competition, The Bakery were approached to produce an engaging "thing" that would promote placement years.

When we were still students, we were rather vocal in our criticism of cheesy, unimaginative promotional videos made for the University of Kent. In fact we made a shot-for-shot satire of the worst offender.

It was time to stop looking smug upon our pedestal of piss-taking, and make something better. Julian was born: a suited graduate equipped with nothing but fierce passion and a flip chart, applying for absurd jobs for which he lacked vital experience.
